El Centro, Imperial County
The Navy's Blue Angels spend each winter at the air station west of El Centro, practicing their routines in the clear desert air before the show season begins. The Mexican border at Calexico is about ten miles south. Summer afternoons regularly pass 110 degrees, and the city records some of the highest temperatures in the country.
